SECOND SERIES OF FLYING HIGHER RECORDED TALKS ON WINTER BIRDING
Happening from the 28th June 2021 to 2nd July 2021
The first series of talks on birding conditions in some National Parks had proven to be very popular and orders for these talks are being received continually. Enquiries are now being received for talks on other top destinations now that most of the migrants are gone. A unique series of talks is being developed to assist birders in their preparations to visit some of these destinations over the next few months. Two talks will focus on the Augrabies and Karoo National Parks, not only as ideal stop-over points en-route to other destinations, but also as worthwhile parks for an extended stay. The winter wonderland of the Drakensberg region will be illustrated with birding at Giant’s Castle and the Golden Gate National Park. Winter birding at Tsitsikamma and Nature’s Valley offers excellent forest species as well as spectacular storms when pelagic species are often on view from shore. The green (and canola) season along the Overberg Wheatbelt has its own charm and visits to the Agulhas and Bontebok National Parks will be featured. Handy hints on birding during this underrated bird-watching time of year are given, basic clues on the identification of birds are provided and anecdotal information on their survival skills and foraging strategies is shared.
