FLYING HIGHER TALKS ON WINTER BIRDING IN SOME NATIONAL PARKS
Happening from the 24th May 2021 to 28th May 2021
Several pre-recorded talks from the ‘Getting more out of Birding’ series are currently being ordered in view of visits to various National Parks. Enquiries are also being received on bird-watching conditions at some of these top birding destinations now that most of the migrants are gone. A unique series of talks is being developed to assist birders in their preparations to visit some of these destinations during the winter months. Two talks will focus on the Kruger National Park, one on the southern section and the other on the northern section, featuring the Punda Maria and Pafuri regions. Birding opportunities in the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park during this chilly time of year will also be highlighted. The roads through the Tankwa Karoo are always popular and deserve investigation. A talk on the hugely underrated West Coast National Park without the famous migratory waders concludes the series. This talk further highlights conditions in the park during the flower season. Handy hints on birding during this underrated bird-watching time of year are given, basic clues on the identification of birds are provided and anecdotal information on their survival skills and foraging strategies is shared.
