The Rocherpan Nature Reserve on the West Coast has erected four brand new cottages, each containing a double bed and a double futon. Cutlery and crockery is for four persons. The kitchen contains brand spanking news items that include a fridge & freezer, gas stove, microwave, toaster and heavy pots and pans. The bathroom is separated from the bedroom by a partition, and contains a shower, basin and eco-toilet. There is a built-in braai on the patio. The doors and windows have mosquito mesh.

The cottages are located on the northern side of the pan, where the old office was situated. There is a new reception office with adjacent public toilets, and new residences for the staff. Day visitors are to purchase their permits from Wynona at the reception before going to the bird hides. Gate times are 08:00 to 18:00.

The old building and toilets that were near the first bird hide have been demolished. It is not clear whether additional facilities for day visitors will be provided on the southern side of the pan.

Reservations and payments for accommodation are to be made through Cape Nature’s website. However, last minute bookings can be made by phoning the reception. These payments will have to be cash transactions because the reserve does not yet have facilities for credit cards.
