Paula Combrink took six Birdlife Overberg members on a hike through the highly underrated Vogelgat Nature Reserve on Tuesday morning. It was a beautiful Hermanus day and simply a great way to start a Tuesday! Also interesting that five of the participants were new club members. All felt that it was a glorious hike through the pristine mountain fynbos of the reserve. From the start the members were fully aware that birding would be challenging partially due to the fact that they were watching their every step and not where birds were tweeting or flying! A sum total of seven different birds were positively identified, but this did not matter as the floral kingdom and beautiful vistas topped with a friendly and enthusiastic group made for another great Birdlife Overberg outing. This hike has huge potential and could become a regular feature on the club's calendar.
