THE SWARTRIVIER ROAD AND HAROLD PORTER's

Yesterday Carin Malan took two British guests for a brief birding session to the Harold Porter Botanical Gardens and the Swartrivier Road in the Overstrand municipal area. This despite very poor weather and blustery conditions. The husband was mostly interested in Blue Cranes and fortunately Carin found a flock of 42 of next year's BirdLife South Africa's Bird of the Year along the Swartrivier road. The wife is into LBJ's, with the result that Swartrivier again delivered. Other highlights included a nesting African Paradise-Flycatcher and African Black Duck ducklings.
