REPORT FROM SA RARE BIRD NEWS ON 18 OCTOBER 2018

Posted on the 19th October 2018

Starting in the Western Cape, there was some surprise on Monday when a WAHLBERG'S EAGLE was seen on Pearl Mountain farm in Paarl at -33.704, 18.952. Although well out of range, this is the second record of this species in the immediate vicinity with another individual being recorded closeby a few years ago. Equally as bizarre was an unconfirmed report of a single TRUMPETER HORNBILL seen on the George campus of the Nelson Mandela University yesterday, another well out of range species.
