CAUTION REGARDING BIRDING AT PAARL BIRD SANCTUARY

Posted on the 25th May 2017

Please note that the position regarding admission to the Paarl Bird Sanctuary remains as stated on several occasions previously, i.e. The sanctuary area is only open at weekends from 07h30 to 16h00 when security officials are on duty. Please do not wander around on foot, and when you drive please take a security official with you so that you can safely concentrate on your birding. We do not want any “incidents” or bad publicity to spoil the reputation of this prime birding area, or any harm to come to visiting birders.
We know that the Northern Shoveler has created some interest among birders but please do not rush out there and ask to be admitted during the week. You will not be admitted. The Senior Engineer at the Drakenstein Waste Water Works has issued the following instruction to staff:
Under no circumstances (and I mean NO) will any birders be allowed to enter the PBS during the week.
Saturday is not far away.
