BIRDING AROUND CERES

BIRDING AT CERES
On Sunday 17 January at 05h45 I counted 370 Lesser Kestrels at Bella Vista outside Ceres. A little later at 06h30 I observed how Whiskered Terns fed their chicks of less than a week old at the dam next to CFP outside town. A further ten pairs were still on their drift nests. The highlight however were six White-backed Ducks that I am sure that very few bird-watchers had ever seen at Ceres.

The counting of at least 50 Red Disas high up in the mountain on the trail towards the Ceres Dam is certainly one of the greatest nature experiences that any person can dream of. How great is the Creator to let one experience such wonderful natural phenomena in a single day.
