RE: BIRDLIFE OVERBERG DONATION TOWARDS APSS – R30,000
Dear Anton, and Birdlife Overberg Members,
A truly heartfelt thank you from myself and the Dyer Island Conservation Trust for your generous contribution to the African Penguin and Seabird Sanctuary(APSS).
When Anton invited us to present at your Birdlife Overberg Monthly meeting a few months back, I knew we were going to garner a lot of support for APSS, but I did not expect such a large donation at such a critical time for our project.
Our marine birds need every little bit of support we can give them to secure their species survival for the future – and having like minded people, who have the wellbeing of these birds at heart – serves as motivation for us to make the African Penguin and Seabird Sanctuary the best marine bird rehabilitation facility in the world.
We have completed majority of the building structure, the roof is partially complete, and the windows are being installed at the moment – the pools have been built, and the electrical work is underway.
But we are still far from completion of the project – with a deadline of the 26th February 2014 coinciding with the opening of the Walker Bay Bird Fair - every donation helps, and your R30,000 is going to help us reach our deadline in time.
Our sponsors and donors will have a special acknowledgement section at the entrance of APSS and Birdlife Overberg will stand proud amongst them.
All members of Birdlife Overberg are welcome to call Alouise Lynch a 082 90 5607 if they would like to come and visit us to see the progress on the facility, as well as join us for a coffee in Kleinbaai!
