INTERNATIONAL BIRDING REQUEST
(We are increasingly receiving requests like the one below from international birders. This illustrates the growing awareness of the Western Cape province as a top birding destination. - Ed.)
Hello,
I found you on the Birdingpal site.
We're a Belgian couple visiting the Cape Town area from December 25 till Januari 8. The plan is to see as much South African birds as possible. We also love to see mammals. I made a rough itinerary, but I can use some help.
First we'll visit the Cape Peninsula (Kirstenbosch, Table Mountain, Kommetjie, Simonstown, Cape of Good Hope) Can this be done in one two days ?
Next is the Overberg, Garden Route (Agulhas, De Hoop NR, De Mond NR, Swellendam, Bontebok NP, Grootvadersbosch) 3 days ?
Port Elisabeth area. Addo park for mammals ??
Then Tanqua Karoo. 2 days ??
Next West Coast NP. 1 day ?
If this plan is correct we'll have 4 / 5 days left. What else do you suggest ?
Do you have time to spend some hours helping to find the more difficult species ?
Any suggestions on Owls ?
Good , not expensive game reserves ?
Thanks a lot and sorry for my poor English,
Jan Arras
