BIRDING WALK AT EMILY MOON
Birding Walk with Gareth:
On a chilly morning, 2nd of July, Mike and I met Gareth at Emily Moon and went on a wonderful bird walk. We were privileged to have Gareth to ourselves as his other party did not turn up. Gareth’s ability to hear the various bird calls, even whilst we were in the midst of a conversation absolutely amazed us. Highlights for us were definitely fantastic sightings of the Black Cuckooshrike, both male and female, an Olive Bushshrike and a lovely close sighting of a Southern Tchagra. We also saw the Fish Eagles at their nesting site and the Osprey in flight. We got 42 birds species in all during our short walk which was great.
On the 9th July, another very chilly morning, we were once again treated to the expertise of Mark as we watched him ring several species of birds at Red Tractor Farm. Mark’s dedication and passion for his work and the way he inspires his students and all of us are a real treat and we are truly blessed to have these two incredible gentlemen in our bird club.
