BLUE CRANE NESTING IN BITOU WETLANDS, PLETT

Blue Crane nesting in Bitou wetlands: - Mike Bridgeford

A Blue Crane pair is nesting in the Bitou wetlands, and can be seen from the Wittedrift road just passed a line-up with the Emily Moon position.

I was told by someone that the nesting last year was interrupted by a Fish Eagle taking the chicks! I hope they are successful this year. Whilst photographing the Blue Crane at its nest sight, a Levaillant’s Cisticola landed on the overhead wire next to me. The wind was blowing, as can be seen by the distorted feather, but the diagnostic black back can be clearly seen. It is a very pretty little bird and often overlooked.
