A SELECTION OF LINKS TO ARTICLES ON WIND FARMS
2010-07-22
(Dr. Stuart Shearer forwarded this letter, together with a series of links to information on wind farms to Dr. Hanneline Smit, the conservation manager of BirdLife South Africa. The links certainly make for interesting reading. - Ed.)
Sorry for the delay, but here is a selection of links. I haven't put any pro-wind farm links, as we can rely on the industry to do that!
My stance is not against wind energy per se, but the damage to the environment which will ensue as these industrial scale projects get under way, with EIA processes largely dictated by the proponents, and based on very flimsy environmental data. Since the favourable tariffs were published in SA there has been an unseemly scramble for these highly profitable projects backed by overseas companies.
Best wishes
Stuart
