MONTHLY ZOOM WEBINAR ON MONDAY 27 SEPTEMBER AT 19h00
Happening on the 27th September 2021
I have recently watched a webinar by Christina Hagen of BLSA on progress with the establishment of a possible new African Penguin breeding colony at the De Hoop Nature Reserve. She has now agreed to do this presentation for us. This is a fascinating project and holds great promise for safeguarding the conservation status of this Critically Endangered species, particularly as far as we in the Overberg are concerned. The official announcement and Zoom invitation link will be forwarded closer to the time.
“Here is a summary of Christina’s presentation: Christina Hagen, the Pamela Isdell Fellow of Penguin Conservation at BirdLife South Africa will give a presentation on her work to establish an African Penguin breeding colony at the De Hoop Nature Reserve. She will share the long road that it has taken to get to this point, how De Hoop was chosen and what preparations have been made to make the site suitable for penguins. In June, juvenile penguins were released for the first time at De Hoop. Christina will explain why and how that happened and what the project hopes to achieve.”
This talk is certainly one not to be missed, so kindly diarise the date.
