INTERNATIONAL COASTAL CLEAN-UP DAY ON 18 SEPTEMBER: JOIN US AT VERMONT
Happening on the 18th September 2021
International Coastal Clean-up Day 2021 will be celebrated on 18 September when several clean-up teams will be working along most of the Cape Whale Coast shoreline. Watch the local media and social media for announcements regarding clean-ups in your area and join the efforts.
BirdLife Overberg’s effort as part of the CleanMarine campaign will be along the Vermont coastline. Statistics of litter gathered will once again be forwarded to the Oceans Conservancy in America in view of establishing trends in global coastal pollution. We will meet at the parking area at Jan Rabie’s pool (34° 25’06.68”S 19° 09’46.07”E) in Vermont at 08h00 where arrangements and instructions will be explained.
WHAT TO BRING ALONG: A portion of the walk is on rocks so appropriate walking shoes will be needed, it can get a bit slippery. Bring a backpack with something to drink and eat and remember your sun hat, sun screen and gloves. Rubbish bags, tongs and score sheets will be supplied.
We express our sincere appreciation to our partners at PlasticsǀSA and Pick n Pay and John Kieser in particular for their support in this regard.
Diarise the date and kindly participate in this very important clean-up and support our efforts to combat plastics and other litter along our magnificent shoreline.
RSVP: Contact Anton at email@example.com or WhatsApp at 082 550 3347 to confirm your participation.
