INTERNATIONAL COASTAL CLEAN-UP DAY AND MONTHLY TALK IN SEPTEMBER
Happening on the 9th September 2019
The International Coastal Clean-up and Recycling Week 2019 will be celebrated between 16 and 21 September. The week will culminate in the International Coastal Clean-up day on Saturday 21 September. The BirdLife Overberg CleanMarine coastal clean-up team’s monthly clean-up will be held on this day and we will be organising a huge event for the day. This will be done in collaboration with the Oceans Conservancy, Plastics SA and the People n Planet campaign of Pick n Pay. Details will be released shortly, but diarise this date to ensure that you participate.
We are delighted to confirm that John Kieser, the Coastal Sustainability Manager at Plastics SA, will be the guest speaker at our monthly meeting on Monday 9 September. John will give us some insights into the growing problem of plastic pollution in our oceans and will explain the mechanisms of the recycling of plastics. This should enable all of us to recycle plastics in a more sustainable manner and should be an ideal talk in the run-up to our efforts on International Coastal Clean-up Day. Reserve your spot now to avoid disappointment.
