The Boland Region of the SANParks Honorary Rangers invites all birders, from novices to experienced twitchers, to join us for a weekend’s fun at the annual Tankwa Karoo Birding Bonanza. Come and seek some Karoo endemics; explore the Tankwa Karoo National Park from the rocky outcrops of the spectacular Gannaga Pass to the shores of the Oudebaaskraal Dam.

When: Friday September 27 to Sunday September 29, 2019

What to expect:The weekend includes a fun birding game where groups, each with an experienced guide, see how many birds they can tick. The birding kicks off with a meet and greet function on the 27th, and concludes with a prize-giving dinner on the evening of the 28th, where lots of lucky draw prizes can be won as well. What is new this year is that the event is fully catered.

Cost:R 2200 per person sharing.

Costs include: All snacks and drinks at the meet and greet function, breakfast (packed if the birders want to get going early) and a packed lunch on Saturday, the prize-giving dinner (inclusive of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages) and breakfast on Sunday. Also included are two nights comfortable accommodation in the Tankwa Karoo National Park. Vehicles and drivers for all the teams participating in the birding game will be available if required.
