BIRDLIFE OVERBERG YEAR-END CELEBRATIONS ON 18 NOVEMBER – A DOUBLE WHAMMY

1. MORNING OUTING WITH THE SOMERSET WEST BIRD CLUB
Members of the Somerset West Bird Club are spending the weekend in our area and have requested us to show them around at some of the top birding destinations along the Cape Whale Coast. This promises to be an interesting opportunity to showcase some of our top habitats and birds. This combined morning outing will take us to the Vermont salt pan, Harderbaai & the Swartrivier road. Kindly join us and let us show our colleagues from Somerset West our brilliant birds.
ARRANGEMENTS:
DATE: Saturday 18 November
TIME AND DEPARTURE: We meet at 07:00 at the OK in Onrus from where transport will be arranged – a petrol levy of R 50.00 will apply to those who catch a lift. We should be back by 12:00.
WHAT TO BRING: The usual plus a picnic basket.

2. YEAR-END FUNCTION AND BRAAI

Carin has now confirmed that Duncan Butchart will be the guest speaker at our year-end function braai on the Saturday evening. Duncan has just launched his brilliant “Garden Birds in Southern Africa” and will tell us some very interesting stories on how this publication has come about. There will be some copies on sale and Duncan will be on hand to sign copies. The book retails for R 230.00 and Duncan has kindly offered to donate R 30.00 per copy sold to the BLO conservation fund – a marvellous Xmas present. Members of the Somerset West Bird Club will also be joining us this evening, so kindly reserve your seat as early as possible.

VENUE – Community Hall at Mollergren Park, Hermanus
TIME: 18:30 for 19:00
COSTS – We will cater at R 80.00 per head. Remember to bring your own drinks and glasses.
