BLO SPONSORS A CAMERA TRAP FOR THE CAPE LEOPARD TRUST!

Posted on the 5th September 2016

Representatives of the CAPE LEOPARD TRUST discussed their work at the BIRDLIFE OVERBERG monthly meeting in May. We were so impressed with their work that the committee decided to make a contribution towards the purchase of a camera to be used to "trap" possible leopards in our region. We badly underestimated the cost of such a camera and members at the meeting then started throwing R 100.00 each into a hat and within minutes enough funds were raised to cover the full cost of a camera. Last week members of the Trust  installed the camera at an undisclosed site in the KOGELBERG BIOSPHERE RESERVE - they sent us these images. We are looking forward to receiving images of "our own leopard(s)" in future.

Our appreciation to Carin Malan for fascilitating this process.

Thank you again to all who contributed, I am still overwhelmed by the reaction we had. Further feedback will follow as we go along, but not later than mid November. Hopefully we will have great luck !!
